"Meeting at the Historic Croswell House"

Our Mission:

Patriotism.

God, Home and Country…”To Preserve Constitutional government of the people, by the people, for the people; and to instill in the hearts of Americans a sense of Patriotic pride in our forefathers who —at so great a cost—left us a heritage of freedom.” (NSDAR Motto and Goals of the Daughters of the American Revolution)

Our National Home

The NSDAR supports several schools and offers scholarships. Our Decorative Arts Museum offers 31 period rooms in the museum in Washington DC. The DAR’s Library catalog is available for online searches. Have you ever wondered if your ancestor contributed to the American Revolution? You can look through the Genealogical Research System to see if there is a Patriot in your line.

Our Activities and Meetings

Ladies of the Lucy Wolcott Barnum Chapter meet monthly September - June with no meetings in January, July and August. Most meetings begin at NOON with a luncheon followed by a Program and Business Meeting.

Wreaths Across America

December is traditionally the month that ‘those that gave all’ are recognized across the United States cemeteries. We support two local cemeteries in the placement of holiday wreaths with bright, red bows on the graves of our deceased veterans.

Famous Ladies Tea

Would you like to meet a Famous Lady? For three years, Famous Ladies (DAR Members) with the help of a Mystery Famous Lady (unveiled the day of the tea) present historic ladies and their stories in period costumes. Join us in November for a delightful afternoon at the ‘General Croswell Tea Room” in Adrian for tea and other delights of the palate.

Veteran’s Goody Bags

In February, we assemble Veteran’s Goody Bags for our veterans who find themselves in nursing homes and assisted living facilities. They welcome personal care items, puzzle books, pens and candies.

Constitution Week

As a patriotic organization, Constitution Week is important. We traditionally attend a “Naturalization Ceremony” welcoming new citizens and provide posters and books to the elementary schools.
